Parts of the Manuscript

To streamline desktop publishing services, use Microsoft Office Word and be economical in using commands. Use Times New Roman 12 font, double space and all margeins with 2,5cm must be used. Paragraphs should be 1.25cm back indentation. Do not use bold, "quotation marks", watermarks, or other text-editing features that can make text visually appealing. These features make publishing difficult. Words or expressions that should be emphasized in the printed text, for example, words in a foreign language should arrive at the edition already in italics, and this will be the only type of tap allowed in the texts. Remember, however, that the APA Handbook does not recommend use of graphic emphases and griffins, as these can distract the reader and disrupt the understanding of the text.

1. Identified Face Sheet

  1. Heading in Portuguese, English and Spanish (maximum of 12 words). The heading must be pertinent, clear and can be creative. It must inform to the reader the objective of the article. It does not have to include names of cities, countries, or other geographic information.
  2. Shortened heading in the main language of the manuscript (maximum 8 words).
  3. Name of each one of the authors with respective institutional affiliation of each one of the authors (to include only the name of the university and the city, state and country).
  4. Notes about the authors (see section 1.1).
  5. Footnotes with the full address of one of the authors for correspondence with the publisher (to include CEP, phone and email).
  6. Footnotes with the authors thanks and information on institutional project support.

ATTENTION: As the revision of the manuscripts is blind peer review, the Identified Face Sheet must be the only page of the manuscript with the name and the addresses of the authors. It is responsibility of the authors to verify that there aren't elements capable to identify them in any other part of the article. The Identified Face Sheet will not be directed to the ad hoc consultants.

The Avaliação Psicológica will not be hold responsible for authors' procedures which do not respect this norm.

1.1. Notes about Authors

Include a brief description of training and the current activities of the authors. It should not exceed more than 3 (three) lines. As the example follows:

Nelson Hauck Filho is psychologist (UFSM), doctor in Psychology by Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Currentily, he is graduated school professor of Psychology of the São Francisco University - Campinas Campus.

Nelson Hauck Filho is psychologist (UFSM), doctor in Psychology by Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Currentily, he is professor in the stricto sensu postgraduate program of Psychology of the São Francisco University - Campinas Campus

2. Summary and Keywords

Summary in english until 150 words. The summary does not need, necessarily, to include information on the literature of the area and they do not have to be enclosed references. The objective must be clear, informing, appropriating, the problem and the hypotheses of the study. Em general, the summary must briefly present the objectives, method, results and discussion of the study.

Keywords in english (at least 3 and in maximum 5, very small and separate by letters with point and comma). It is recommended that keywords have not been cited in the title and abstract of your manuscript.

To use more adequate describers, consult the Thesaurus of APA, thus facilitating the future indexation of your work.

2.1. Resumo and Resumen

Resumo (in Português) and Resumen (in Espanhol which must be more than the translation of the Summary , but should consider the especificities of each language. To achieve this end, it is suggested that both be done simultaneously. The Avaliação Psicológica has as standard procedure to revise the Resumo and Resumen, reserving itself the right to correct them, if necessary. However, we recommend that the authors request to a bilingual colleague to revises the Abstract as well the Resumen, before submitting the manuscript. This is a very important item of its work, consequently it will be available in all the index adores of the journal

Palavras-Chave: (translation of the in keywords in Português, in lower case and separated by a semicolon).

Palabras-clave: (translation of the in keywords in espanhol, in lower case and separated by a semicolon)

3. Structure and Content for Different Types of Research

The Journal Avaliação Psicológica publishes original papers, preferably research reports, but also the literature review articles, technical notes and short reports of research, book reviews and news on Psychological Assessment. Table 1 presents different definitions for each type of study and some methodological specifications.

It is not necessary to presente topic "introduction" before starting the text.

Do not initiate a new page to each sub-heading. Use bold in the subtitle separate them using a blank line.

In some cases, it may be helpful to present Results and Discussion together, although this strategy is not recommended as a general rule.

The journal Psychological Assessment recommends the revision of the text, noting the connection between the sections and subtitles used. Single-sentence paragraphs should be avoided as they fragment the text. The objectives of the study should be clearly explained at the beginning of the text, referring to the review of the literature in the area and methodological procedures.

The words Figures and Tables, which appear in the text, must, always, be written with the first letter in capital and must come followed by the respective number which they relate. Expressions as "the Table above" or "the Figure below" must not use because, in the editing process, its localization can be modified. The Norms do not include the denomination Pictures or Graphs, only Tables and Figures. The manuscripts in the other publishing categories must present headings and subs-heading according with each specificities. For more information on the types of table and figure formatting, refer to chapter five of the APA manual.

4. Citation

Observe, very carefully, the citation rules. Always give authors credit and the publication dates of all the mentioned studies. All the last names of authors whose works are cited must be followed by the year of publication.

The literal quotation of a text requires the reference of the page number of the work from which it was extracted and must be enclosed in quotation marks, with indentation of the left margin, when long quotations exceed more than four lines. All secondary citations should inform the original reference.

Avoid, however, whenever possible, use secondary citations, especially when the original can be retrieved with ease. However, if it is essential, please inform: author's surname, the date, the name of the original citation author and the publication date of the study.

All studies cited in the text should be listed in the references section. Only the works consulted and mentioned in the text should appear in this section.

5. Figures and Tables

Figures and Tables should be presented with their respective captions and titles, respectively and preferably in the text itself, or at the end (recommended not to send as a separate document). They should preferably be crafted using Microsoft Office programs. The titles of the Tables should be placed on top of them and should indicate their content, in up to 15 words.

The first letter of each word in the title of the Tables must be written in capital letters, the connectives and prepositions (“of”, “a”, “an”, “the”, “with”) and the other letters must be lowercase letters. The full title should be written in italics. Do not use uppercase, italics or italics inside the Table. Try not to use abbreviations in the tables, but if it is essential to indicate them clearly in the text.

The legends of the Figures should be presented below them, always in lowercase. Remember that the standards do not include the denomination Tables or Graphs, Tables and Figures only.

In tables and text, when reporting results and analyzes, avoid using more than two decimal places.

6. List of References

All manuscripts submitted to Revista Psicológica should, whenever possible, refer to works previously published in the journal.

Start a new page for the References section, with bold, centralized title. Use double space in this section and do not leave extra space between quotes. References should be cited in alphabetical order, by author's surname. To refer multiple studies by the same author, use chronological order. When author and date match, use the first letter of the title to list the references in alphabetical order. Author names should not be replaced by dashes or dashes.

Each of the References should appear as a new paragraph, leaving five spaces (.75cm) from the left margin on the second line (use the tab). Review the journal's standards before preparing your references to meet all criteria.

Do not use the bold command in this section. The italics should be in italics as indicated in the APA publication manual.

Avoid elaborating the reference list manually. Instead, opt for electronic reference management programs such as Mendeley , Zotero and Endnote.

Questions about how to do the citations and reference list of your manuscript?

Guidelines for citation/quoting and references

8. Annexes and appendices

The annexes should be presented in a new page, after the references, with bold and centralized title. The annexes should be indicated in the text and presented at the end of the manuscript, identified by the letters of the alphabet, upper case letters (A, B, C and so on), and appropriately titled. Only use attachments if this is really necessary for understanding the text. Rather than include instruments or other materials, authors may choose to inform readers, through a Note, of their availability and the procedures for obtaining them. If you wish, consult IBAP about the availability of these materials on your site.
