Norms for Publication and Editorial Politics

 

Clínica & Cultura has semiannual periodicity and adopts the Norms of Publication from APA: Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition, 2019), in respect of presentation style of the manuscript and the ethical aspects inherent to the realization of a scientific work. A copy of the evaluation from Research Ethical Committee, when pertinent, must be forwarded when submitting the manuscript. Without this copy, the manuscript will not initialize the editorial process. The omission of this information in the detainment that follows implies that the guidance of the APA prevails. Manuscripts must be wrote in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish.

For examples of section of the manuscript (in English), it is suggested: Psychology With Style: A Hypertext Writing Guide (for the 7th edition of the APA Manual).

Clínica & Cultura also occasionally publishes dossiers and special editions about themes of large clinical, cultural and academic relevance.

The Editorial Commission will initially review the texts received. If they are in accordance with the rules for publication and are consider potentially publishable by Clínica & Cultura, they will be send to, at least, two ad hoc consulters for issuing the review.

The consulter’s guides hold four possibilities: a) integral acceptance; b) acceptance with minor reformulations; c) acceptancy with significant reformulations; d) full refusal. Authors will be notify in any of these cases.

If the result of the evaluation indicates the necessity for reformulations, the text will returned to the author, which must execute all the alterations in the period indicated by the editorial team.

The peer review process utilizes the blind review system, preserving the identity of the authors and consulters

The final decision on whether or not to publish the text will always be from de Editorial Comission.

The approval of the texts implies the immediately and free assignment of the publication rights in this periodic, which will have the exclusive right to publish in first hand. The author will continue to own the copyright for later publications.

The authors must provide the orthographic and grammar revision of the approved texts, to be carried out preferably by a qualified professional. Clínica & Cultura will not be responsible for the review of the manuscripts, but may refuses to publish articles whose writing or orthographic presents problems.

 

Editorial Line

 

Clínica & Cultura has the propose to promote the investigation, the debate and the scientific divulgation around the relations between individual and society based in a clinical approach that, relying on different theories perspectives, focus on singular aspects of the impact over the subjects in their insertion in a determined social-historical-cultural context. Therefore, encourages the submission of papers that deals with recent themes – as such as sexuality, violence, consume, parenting relations and identity –, focusing on their psychopathological, cognitive, behaviorist or subjective dimensions, considering either individual experiences or group processes, as well as the ethical, theoretical and methodological discussions around the different forms of psychotherapy with sights to explore the possibilities on the engage the present challenges. Clínica & Cultura accepts preferably theoretical studies, essays and empirical researches report that are supported by the psychological and psychanalytical knowledge, as works that, from one of these fields, seeks for articulating with the philosophical thoughts and with others scientifically disciplines especially the human and social science.

 

Evaluation Guideline

 

Clínica & Cultura will evaluate the papers submitted upon the following guidelines:

    • The article must contribute in a relevant manner for the debate inside de focus and scope of the journal;

   • The object of work, the theoretical fundaments, the investigation method and the results must be clearly discriminated and showed in an objective form;

   • The bibliography used must be recent and coherent with the perspective drawled;

   • The text must mind for the clearness and objectivity of the showed ideas, as well as the right use of the language;

   • The text should respect the technical norms and guidelines stablished in the authors guideline;

 

 

Authors Quideline

 

The authors must submit their works uniquely by the website Clínica & Cultura in the SEER system:

https://seer.ufs.br/index.php/clinicaecultura/index

In the submission process, the authors should declare that their manuscripts are inedited and that they are not submitted for evaluation in other periodic, as well must agree with the cession of the authors rights.

The texts must be submitted for one of the following sections:

Theoretical studies & essays: analyses the themes and pertinent questions in the focus and scope of the journal, theoretically grounded. (text body with 15 to 20 pages, or 25.000 to 35.000 characters with space). 

Research relate: pertinent investigation to the focus and scope of the journal, based in empirical data, resorting to quantitative and/or qualiative methodologies. (text body with 15 to 20 pages,
   or 25.000 to 35.000 characters with space).

Reviews: critical reviews of texts relative to the debate focus and scope of the journal, which appears the relevance of the work reviewed for the    field. (text body with 3 to 5 pages, or 5.000 to 9.000 characters with space).

Debates: additional commentaries and replies to texts published in previewed numbers of the magazine (text body with 15 to 20 pages, or 25.000 to 35.000 characters with space).

– Documents: classical texts, interviews, comments and interventions in current discussions selected according to the criterion of the commission and editorial consul.

It is necessary for the authors to registers in the system before submit a paper; if is already registered, must only access the system and initiate the submission process. The authors can follow all the editorial process in the SEER system.

Before publishing the originals, the Editor will send a prove for a final readying by the authors. This lecture should be made in three useful days and be returned to the Journal. In case that the authors will not return the aquiver indicating corrections, the text will be published according to the prove.

 

 

Originals Presentation

 

Originals presentation:

The original texts must be electronic submitted by the SEER system https://seer.ufs.br/index.php/clinicaecultura/index, in the following way:

1) For the Word, OpenOffice or RTF, with:

        a. space 2,0 (in all the parts of the manuscript);

        b. font Times New Roman, size 12;

        c. not exceed number of pages appropriated to the categories that the work applies;

        d. page A4;

        e. borders: 2,5 cm in superior and inferior borders; 3cm in the right and left border;

        f. unnumbered sheet

2) The total of the files forwarded can not outstrip 2MB, with any type of identification in the study file, not even in the Word proprieties, to ensure the blind review evaluation.

 

Organization for Work Presentation

 

Organization for work presentation:

The texts should be presented according to the following order:

      1) Depersonalized cover sheet (containing complete title in the language in that the paper wrote and in english, up to 10 words, as well a suggestion for the abbreviated title in these two           languages, to 4 words); 

     2)  Sheet containing Resume (100-150 words, or 600 to 1000 caracters with space) and three to six keywords, separated by comma. Must e presented one page for language.

     3) Body text, size compatible with the session destineted to. Tables, graphics and figure, when it’s the case, should be put it in the text body. Footnotes must be inserted using the tool footnotes” in the text processors.

     4) References

     5) Annexes and/or Apendices, when indispensable to the texts. 

 

Quotations

 

Examples of quotations in the body of the manuscript:

The examples below aid the organization in your manuscript, but certainly do not exhaust the possibilities of the quotations in the work. Use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed. 2019). To verify the norms of others references.

1. Quotation of paper from multiple authors:

- Paper with two authors: cite the two names always when the paper is referenced:

Carvalho e Beraldo (2006) fizeram a análise qualitativa...

Esta análise qualitativa (Carvalho & Beraldo, 2006)...

- Paper with three to five authors: quote all the authors only in the first citation and in the following quote the first author following by "et al." and date:

         A literatura desta área foi revisada por Mansur, Carrthery, Caramelli e Nitrini (2006)... Isto foi descrito em outro artigo (Mansur et al., 2006).

- Paper with six or more authors: cite in the text only the surname of the fist author, following by "et al." and date. However, in the section Recerences all the names of the authors must be descrimineted.

2. Quotes in old and re-edited Works:

In the section References, cite

NOTE: Citations with less than 40 words must be incorporated in the text paragraph, with quotation marks. Citations with more than 40 with more than 40 words must appear in without commons in a paragraph in bloc format, each line indented five spaces from the left marge. Quotations with more than 500 words, reproduction of one or more figures, tables or other illustrations must have permission written by the holder of the authors rights of the original work for the reproduction. The permission must be addressed to the author from the work submitted. The rights obtained secondarily will not passed on in no circumstance. The direct citation must be exact, even thought have errors in the original. If this happens and to not take the risk to confound the reader, add the word [sic], underlined and with square brackets, right before the error. Material omission of a original font must be indicated by three dots (…). The insertion of material, as such commentaries or observations must be made it by square brackets. The emphasis in one or more words must be made from underline font, followed by [emphasis added].

 

 

References

 

Iniciate a new page for the section Reference, with this title centralized in the fist line under the header. Only the works consulted and mencioned in the text should appear in this section. Continue using the double space and do not let blank spaces between the citations. The referencs must be quoted in alphabetical order by the surname of the authors, according to the norms of APA (see some exemples bellow). Use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2019, 7th edition) to verify the norm not cited here.

In cases of multiple references of the same author, use chronological order, in other words, from the oldest to the newest. Name of the authors should not be substituted for dashes.

Procced accordingly to the indicated above, and include the number of the fascicle in parenthesis, without underlining, before the volume number.

2. Paper for scientific journal edited only in electronic format.
