JOURNAL MESSAGE |
|
Dear readers and authors, The Revista Psicologia Hospitalar (São Paulo) is currently in the process of regularizing its editorial workflow. During this process, we are working to adjust the electronic publications (Epub) to the corresponding editorial years and volumes, according to the journal's historical organization. We would like to clarify that, due to this regularization process, there may be a difference between the publication year of the volume/issue and the effective date of electronic availability (Epub) of the articles. The Epub date indicates when the article becomes publicly accessible on the journal's platform and in indexing databases, while the publication year remains valid for bibliographic cataloging purposes. We emphasize that this practice is common in academic journals, both national and international, and does not compromise the scientific validity of the published articles. The Epub date may, therefore, differ from the expected editorial year, which does not imply any prejudice to authors or to the integrity of the published work. For academic evaluation purposes (CAPES, Lattes Curriculum, and others), we recommend that articles be cited based on the corresponding editorial year, including, if necessary, the Epub information with the respective date. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, we reaffirm our commitment to editorial quality and transparency. Sincerely,
The Revista Psicologia Hospitalar, edited by the Psychology Division of the Central Institute of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP, aims to publish articles that contribute to the scientific knowledge and practice of Hospital and Health Psychology. The Publication Standards are based on the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association – APA (7th edition, 2020, https://apastyle.apa.org/instructional-aids/reference-guide.pdf), with some adaptations for adequacy to Portuguese language. Steps in the editorial process
Initially, the manuscripts will be assessed by the editor and, if they are considered potentially publishable, they will be forwarded to the members of the Editorial Board and ad hoc consultants, chosen by the editor from among researchers with recognized competence in the area. The identity of the authors and their institutional affiliations will not be disclosed to ad hoc consultants. After analyzing the manuscripts, the consultants will issue a review report in which they will accept, reject or recommend (with reformulations) publication. Authors will receive a copy of the reviews in full, without information about the identity or institutional affiliation of the reviewers. If the manuscript is recommended for publication, the authors may resubmit it in a reformulated version, attaching a new submission letter to the editor, with comments on the reformulations made and justifications for the reformulations undone. The reformulated version will not necessarily be accepted, as this will depend on the new review report, which will be issued by the same consultants who evaluated the first version. Until definitive acceptance, this procedure of reevaluating and reformulating the manuscript may be repeated as many times as the Editorial Board deems necessary. Once accepted, manuscripts will be published exclusively electronically and authors will be notified about publication. Copyright Reproduction of other publications Research Ethics Committee Approval Formal presentation of the manuscript 1. Identified title page, containing:
2. Unidentified title page, containing the title in Portuguese (centered, maximum of 15 words, capital letters) and the title in English, which must be compatible with the Portuguese title. 3. Abstract must contain 150 to 500 words, Arial font size 10, single line spacing, and justified alignment. Keywords: a minimum of 3 (three) and a maximum of 5 (five), each keyword should have the first letter capitalized and be separated from each other by a period, and also finished with a period, preferably derived from the Terminology in Psychology of the Virtual Health Library – Psychology (BVS-Psi Brasil) or Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) (https://decs.bvsalud.org/). (Ex.: Death. Children. Hospital.). 4. Abstract Abstract in English, containing 150 to 500 words, Arial font size 10, single line spacing, and justified alignment. It must be faithful to the Portuguese abstract, but not a literal translation thereof. Revista Psicologia Hospitalar reserves the right to perform the final revision of the abstract and to correct it, if necessary. Keywords: English version of the keywords. 5. Resumen Abstract in Spanish, containing 150 to 500 words, Arial font size 10, single line spacing, and justified alignment. Similarly to the Abstract, it must be faithful to the Portuguese abstract, without being a literal translation. Palabras clave: Spanish version of the keywords. 6. Body of the Manuscript Footnotes must be indicated by Arabic numerals in the text and listed after the references, on a separate page titled Notas. Figures and tables must be presented inserted within the main body of the text, with their respective captions and titles, preferably created in Word. Do not use expressions such as "the table above" or "the figure below," as their location may be altered during the editing process. They must not exceed 17.5 cm in width by 23.5 cm in length. Preferably, do not change the page orientation to landscape to accommodate the figure or table. The titles of the tables must be preceded by the word Tabela (only the initial T capitalized), placed above the table, followed by its sequential order number, in Arabic numerals and a hyphen. The first letter of the table's title must be capitalized, and the remaining letters should be lowercase. Do not use bold or italics within the table, avoiding abbreviations which, when essential, must be clearly indicated in the text. The titles of the figures must be presented below them, following the word Figura (only the initial F capitalized), followed by its sequential order number, in Arabic numerals and a period. The first letter of the figure’s title must be capitalized, and the remaining letters should be lowercase. At the bottom, indicate the consulted source (even if it is the author's own production), caption, notes, and other information necessary for its comprehension (if any), using a smaller font size than the main text. The complete reference must be listed in the References section. Carefully follow the citation rules. All names of authors whose work is cited must be followed by the publication date the first time they are cited in each paragraph. For citations of work with three or more authors: the first time they are cited in the text, it is necessary to include the names of all authors; in subsequent references to the work, include only the name of the first author followed by the expression "et al." LITERAL QUOTATIONS Literal quotations with fewer than 40 words must be typed normally in the text, enclosed in quotation marks, with punctuation placed before the closing quotation mark. The page number(s) of the work from which the quotation was copied must be presented in parentheses. Quotations with more than 40 words must be presented in a separate paragraph without quotation marks, starting on a new line with an indent of five spaces from the left margin (the same position as a new paragraph). Subsequent lines should be typed aligned with the indent. The direct quotation must be exact, even if there are errors in the original, which can be noted using the word [sic], which must be in italics and enclosed in square brackets immediately after the error. Omission of material from an original source must be indicated by (...). The insertion of material, such as comments or observations, must be done using square brackets. Emphasis on one or more words must be done using italics, followed by [grifo nosso]. At the end of the block quotation, the source must be cited in parentheses, after the final punctuation mark. INDIRECT QUOTATIONS (PARAPHRASES) The use of quotation marks is dispensed with, as it is a text created based on the consulted author's work. The author should be cited by their last name (with only the first letter of the last name capitalized) and the date enclosed in parentheses. One author: When the author is part of the text, only the year of publication should be cited in parentheses. If the author is not part of the text, the name and year should be placed in parentheses, separated by a comma. Examples: According to Ferreira (2023), in research conducted... or A recently released study (Ferreira, 2023) demonstrates that... Two authors: The last names of the authors cited in the text must be separated by the word “e” followed by the year of publication. If they are cited within parentheses, they must be separated by “&.” Examples: Segundo Kurita e Pimenta (2000), as características da fibromialgia levam o paciente a uma certa descrença em relação ao tratamento or As características da fibromialgia levam o paciente a uma certa descrença em relação ao tratamento (Kurita & Pimenta, 2000) Three or more authors: Example: Braga et al. (2006) em seu estudo... Example: ... (Braga et al., 2006). CITATION OF A CITATION (SECONDARY SOURCE) This refers to the citation of an article referenced in a consulted publication, but to which direct access was not obtained. In the References section, cite only the work actually consulted. Use the expression “citado por” and provide the original reference, with the author’s last name, date, the last name of the author making the original reference, and the date of their publication. Example: Pollack (1998, citado por Martinez, 1999) atesta que... CITATION OF OLD AND REISSUED WORKS Use the following format: last name (date of original publication / date of consulted publication). Example: Freud (1905/1975) or (Freud, 1905/1975) General Observations:
7. Acknowledgments Only for those who have significantly collaborated in the completion of the work. Must appear before the references. 8. References References must be presented at the end of the article, in alphabetical order. In the case of more than one reference by the same author, use chronological order (from the oldest work to the most recent). Do not replace authors' names cited more than once with long dashes or lines. When there are two to 19 authors responsible for the work, they must be separated by commas, except for the last one, which must be separated from the previous one by a comma followed by &. When the number of authors is 20 or more, indicate the first 19, insert an ellipsis (...), and then add the last author. The title and subtitle of scientific journals must be highlighted (italicized), following the spelling rules of the publication's language. The publication volume must also be italicized. In parts of a document (book chapter and journal article), the highlight must be on the title of the work as a whole. Authors must ensure that the references cited in the text are included in the References list with exact dates and correctly spelled author names. The accuracy of the references is the responsibility of the authors. The References list must adhere to the model of the following examples: Journal Article: Last name, First name (initials) of the author(s). (publication date). Title of the article. Journal Title: Subtitle, volume(number), pages.Example: Bezerra, D.S. (2003). O desejo e a fragilidade do corpo. Psicologia Hospitalar, 1(2), 21-29. Whole Book with Author: Mannoni, M. (1995).
