TYPES OF COLLABORATIONS ACCEPT BY PSICOLOGIA EM PESQUISA Psychology and related fields manuscripts that fit the following categories will be accepted A. Literature review and Theoretical Essays: critical analysis of scientific literature about a specific problem or analyses of an aspect of a theoretical problem that generates questions about existent models and/or hypothesis for future research. They are limited to 15 pages including abstract, figures and references. B. Research reports: scientific communication of an empirical investigation. They are limited to 25 pages, including abstract, figures and references. C. Themes for Debate: involves a vast range of subjects of scientific relevance, including among other text modalities, short communications, professional experience reports, case studies, letters to the editor, technical notes and interviews. They are limited to 10 pages. D. Reviews: critical review of newly-published work that will guide the reader to its characteristics and uses. They are limited to 5 pages.
EDITORIAL STANDARDS I. Manuscript Selections: texts that meet the four categories described above will be evaluated according to originality, subject relevance, and methodological quality, besides editorial standards adequacy. II. Idioms: manuscripts will be accepted in Portuguese, Spanish and English III. Unpublished manuscripts – manuscripts submitted to Psychology in research could neither be published before, nor submitted for publication in another journal. The reprint of a manuscript of strong scientific relevance will be analyzed by the editorial board. IV. Authorship- It will be assumed that all listed authors agreed with the manuscript submission, the proponent author has the sole responsibility for ensuring that before the submission in Psychology in Research, all authors agreed on the manuscript submission in this journal. V. Personal Communications – It will be assumed that a person cited in personal communication approved being cited. VI. Responsibility – the contents of the work is of full responsibility of the authors. VII. Copyrights – The copyrights of published manuscripts belong to Psychology in Research. The reproduction of the published manuscripts on this journal is subject to written agreement of the Editor. Persons interested on partially reproducing parts of manuscripts (parts over 500 words, tables, figures, and images) should get written permission of the authors. VIII. Peer review – All work submitted to the Journal will be evaluated by the Editorial board, that may use ad hoc reviewers, at their discretion. Three types or reviews are possible: a) totally acceptance; b) acceptance subject to correction, c) refusal. The authors will be notified of acceptance or refusal of the manuscripts. IX. Language review – The editorial board could make revisions on language, including key-words. When judging necessary substantial modifications that may alter authors(s)’ idea may be suggested, but author(s) will be notified and ask to perform them in time due time. X. Citations and references – the citations must be generated according to the standards of the American Psychological Association (APA,2001), Daniel Bueno translation, Porto Alegre, Artes Médicas editors. This version correspond to the 4th edition, originally published in 1994. XI. Use of secondary source of information - Use of secondary source of information should conform to copyright laws, insuring the originality of the text. Any materials using secondary source of information (e.g., figures, tables and drawings extracted from other publications) showing discrepancy from the current legislation will be sent to analysis only if they are accompanied by written permission for reprint in Psychology in Research from the copywriter holder. XII. Research with Human subjects (for Brazilian research only) – Empirical studies with human subjects should present approval from the ethics committee recognized by the CONEP – national Ethical Committees XIII. Text Format – The manuscript should be typed on font Times New Rome 12, double spaced, not exceeding 80 characters per line and the number of pages defined for the type of work presented. The manuscript should be numbered from the identified sheet that will receive page number 1. Paper Size should be A4, superior and inferior margins 2,5 cm, left and right margins 3 cm. XIV. Manuscript Presentation – The manuscript must be presented following the format:
1.1. Complete title on the language the manuscript was prepared, not exceeding 15 words 1.2. Suggestion of a brief title for the headings, not exceeding 5 words 1.3. English title compatible with the one written in the language the manuscript language was prepared 2. Identified sheet with: 2.1. Title in the language the manuscript was written 2.2. Suggestion of a heading title 2.3. English title compatible with the one written in the language the manuscript language was prepared 2.4. Name of each of the authors 2.5. Institutional affiliation of each of the authors (include only university name and city) 2.6. Footnote with acknowledgements and indicating any financial support received 2.7. Footenote with the indication of the author that should be contact for mail puposes, followed by complete mailing address. E-mail address should also be indicated. 2.8. Address for correspondence with the Editor should also be indicated, including fax, telephone and e-mail.
3. Abstract in Portuguese or Spanish: 3.1. Abstract with maximum of 150 words, only for A and B categories 3.2. After the abstract include 3 to 5 key-words compatible with the text language. The key words should be create on the basis of APA Thesaurus 4. Abstract sheet, in English, compatible with the abstract text. 4.1. The abstract should obey the same specification of abstract, follow by keywords, compatible with the abstract key-words
5. Text structure 5.1. Text should be organized with clarity, using a title subtitle struct that reflect this organization. 5.2. Research reports should necessarily be organized on: introduction, method, results, discussion 5.3. The other categories manuscripts should present titles and subtitles compatible with text categories. 5.4. As much as it is possible, footnotes should be avoid 5.5. Indicate in the text place for inserting figures and tables. Figures and tables should be placed at the end of the text 5.6. Authors must revise their text so it follows the norms of Portuguese language scientific style (for Portuguese language only). 6. References: the term reference must be used, it is not recommended the use of the term ‘bibliographic references’ or ‘bibliography’. All literarture cited must be included in the reference section and vice-versa.
7. Annexes can be used only if not avoidable and they should be indicated in the text and numbered successively. 8. Tables and Figures should be prepare don Word for windows, in black and white and not exceed 17,5cm in width and 23,5 cm in length, it should contain titles at the top in the case of tables and down in the case o figures with up to 15 words.
