INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

Types of contributions accepted

Original texts in psychology and related fields are accepted. Contributions may fall into one of the following categories:

a.1) Theoretical Essays: Analysis of conceptual structure and philosophical and epistemological premises of psychological theories. The manuscript must be limited to 25 (twenty-five) pages including resumo, abstract, figures and references.

a.2) Systematic literature review: Manuscripts that may provide a guide for the development of research projects, including new directions for investigations and identifying the research methods that have been employed in a particular field. This type of study should present a straightforward question, define a search strategy and the criteria of inclusion and exclusion of articles, as well as presenting and justifying, in a clear way, the methodology employed for the analysis of the selected texts. The manuscript must be limited to 25 (twenty-five) pages including resumo, abstract, figures and references.

a.3) Research Reports: Scientific report of an empirical research. The manuscript must be limited to 25 (twenty-five) pages including resumo, abstract, figures and references.

 

Editorial Standards

I. Manuscript Evaluation: texts that meet one the four categories described above are evaluated according to originality, relevance of the subject, and methodological quality, besides conformity to editorial standards.
II. Languages: manuscripts are accepted in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
III. Manuscripts submitted to Psicologia em Pesquisa cannot have been published previously, nor simultaneously submitted for publication elsewhere. However, the reprint of a manuscript of high scientific relevance may be considered by the editorial board.
IV. Authorship: It is assumed that all authors have previously agreed with the manuscript submission. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring this agreement and is assumed to have done so before the beginning of the submission process.
V. Personal Communications: It is assumed that any person mentioned in a personal communication has previously and expressly approved this reference.
VI. Responsibility: authors are fully responsible for the content of their work.
VII. Copyrights: Copyrights of published manuscripts belong to Psicologia em Pesquisa. Reproduction of published material is conditional to formal written agreement of the Editor. People interested in reproducing parts of the articles published here (parts of the text exceeding 500 words, tables, figures, other illustrations, etc.) must have written permission from the author(s).
VIII. Peer Reviewing: All material submitted to the Journal is evaluated by the Editorial Board, which may resort to ad hoc peer reviewers at its discretion. Three decisions can result from the reviewing process: a) acceptance; b) acceptance conditional to correction, c) rejection. Authors will be notified of final result of their submission.
IX. Language Revision: The Editorial Board may make language revisions, including keywords. When substantial changes are needed, authors will be notified and asked to make corrections and return the article within a specified time.
X. Use of Secondary Sources of Information: The use of secondary information must comply with copyright laws, ensuring the originality of the text. Materials using secondary information (e.g. figures, tables and drawings from other publications) showing discrepancy from the current legislation will be sent to review only if they are accompanied by written permission from the copyright holder for reprint in "Psicologia em Pesquisa".
XI. Research with Human Beings (for Brazilian researchers only): Empirical studies involving human subjects must provide a copy of the approval issued by an Ethics Committee duly registered in the National Committee for Research Ethics (CONEP) by the time of the manuscript submission.

XII. Authors that submit articles to the journal and have a Ph.D must commit to giving an assessment for the journal during the editorial process of the submitted article. This should be declared in the submission letter, that must be signed by "all" of the authors.

XIII. Text Format: Text Format: All manuscripts must conform to APA norms, 6th edition (2012). Text structure and instructions represented in the template must be rigorously followed. Articles not submitted accordingly will not be accepted.

 

How to Submit a Manuscript

Documents to be sent:

I. Manuscript according to the template mentioned above.
II. Letter requesting the work to be considered for publication in Psicologia em Pesquisa. In the letter, all authors' academic titles and institutional affiliations must be informed. It must include the declaration of commitment of Ph.D authors to give an assessment for the journal during editorial process of the submitted article. It is also necessary to inform research financing sources.
III. Copy of the approval by an Ethics Committee (when applicable). Article submission is exclusively online, through the SEER Platform. Please submit your article through the link:
