A short report on Lacan's ideas about hysteria

A autora estabelece o percurso de Lacan em torno da Histeria, ao longo de muitos anos de seu ensino. A partir de casos clínicos de Freud, especialmente Dora, com referências a Elisabeth von R. e ao sonho da Bela Açougueira, enfatiza a concepção lacaniana do eu, em oposição àquela defendida pela ego psychology, e estabelece o desenho do jogo das identificações no caso Dora e da dualidade desejo/demanda no sonho da Bela Açougueira. Além disso, trata da questão da mascarada como recurso de acesso à feminilidade e estabelece especial atenção ao conceito de mais-de-gozar.

The author has outlined Lacan’studies of hysteria during his many years of teaching. Based upon Freud’s clinical studies of the case of Dora, with additional references to Elisabeth von R and, also, to the Beautiful Butcher’s dream, she has emphasized Lacan’s conception of the I (je) in opposition to that defined by ego psychology. The dynamics of the game of identifications in Dora’s case have been established along with the duality desire/demand in the Beautiful Butcher’s dream. Besides this, she discusses the question of masquerades as a resource to femininity and dedicates special attention to the concept beyond enjoyment.

Conducting and finalizing analytical treatment: considering feminine enjoyment

Esse texto trata a questão do gozo feminino em sua relação com o final da análise. Partindo do obstáculo freudiano constituído pelo rochedo da castração, tentaremos verificar como Lacan foi além de Freud ao propor o gozo feminino. O que concerne, portanto, tanto ao homem como à mulher, abrindo, ao fim da análise, ao héteros.

The author deals with the question of feminine joy/pleasure (jouissance) and its relation to the end of analysis. Stemming from the Freudian obstacle formed by the rock of castration, he attempts to verify the theoretical advances made by Lacan upon proposing the feminine joy/pleasure. This concerns, however, both man and woman, opening up, at the end of analysis, to the héteros (Greek - the other of two, other, different).

The devastating effects of a mother-daughter relationship in a high risk case of autism

A autora traz um caso de atendimento de uma mãe e de sua filha com risco de autismo que não vem respondendo ao tratamento, visando articular a devastação na relação mãe-filha como um dos impasses para a melhora da paciente.

The author presents a case study in which the risks of autism run high. She treats both mother and daughter and attributes the lack of response to treatment to the intense level of devastation present in the mother-daughter relationship.

Femininity’s courses

Fundamentando sua argumentação na análise de Joel Birman da versão moderna da ópera Carmen de Bizet, a autora traça um percurso do conceito de feminilidade enfocando seu despojamento das conotações negativas impostas pela moral sexual burguesa do século XIX e destacando os novos horizontes e as novas possibilidades que a assunção da feminilidade abre para o relacionamento entre os sexos.

Based upon Joel Birman’s analysis of the modern version of the Carmen de Bizet Opera, the author herein discusses the development of the concept feminity, focussing on the renouncement of negative connotations that were imposed by the 19th century’s bourgeous sexual ethics. Special attention has been given to new horizons and possibilities for relationships between sexes that have been brought on by the contemporary assumption of femininity.

Negative therapeutical reaction: clinical incidents

O artigo retoma duas teses freudianas: a reação terapêutica negativa constitui um dos maiores obstáculos à efetividade do tratamento analítico; a indagação dos obstáculos que se colocam no caminho da cura se faz fundamental para extrair uma orientação na direção do trabalho dos analistas. Esta orientação freudiana indica que a elucidação dos obstáculos ao tratamento analítico tem como fio condutor um ponto de assujeitamento a uma “força demoníaca”**, da qual o sujeito não tem como desembaraçar-se, pois “o que um dia veio à vida, aferra-se tenazmente à existência”1. A releitura que Lacan extrai dessas descobertas freudianas possibilita qualificar como ética a elaboração da questão sobre o final de uma experiência de análise, na medida em que seu final é abordado em consonância com a existência dessa enigmática tendência masoquista que a clínica presentifica como “essa maldição assumida ou consentida”

In this article, the author discusses two Freudian themes: that the negative therapeutic reaction constitutes one of the greatest obstacles to analytic treatment, and that the investigation of the obstacles is fundamental toward the discovery of the direction to be followed by the analyst in search for a cure. This Freudian orientation indicates that the elucidation of analytical obstacles is a ‘conducting wire’, a point at which the ‘demoniac force’ obliges the individual, from which he cannot be freed because ‘that which came to life one day is strongly connected to existen-ce’ [1]. Lacan’s reviews on Freud have made it possible to qualify the elaboration of the end of analysis as ethical because the approach to the end is consonant with the enigmatic masoquistic tendency that appears in clinical work as ‘this assumed or consented malediction’.

Cuts and effects: Psychoanalysis is the effect of a cut

Este texto procura demonstrar que a psicanálise é o efeito de um corte. Trata-se de um corte pontual realizado por uma das primeiras pacientes de Freud. A partir dos efeitos desse corte, a escuta e o desejo de Freud conduziram-no à construção científica do corpo teórico da psicanálise. Além disso, o texto mostra que é possível identificar na obra de Freud dez outros momentos de cortes, que produziram efeitos cruciais no movimento psicanalítico e no desenvolvimento da teoria da clínica analítica.

We propose that psychoanalysis is the result of an act made by one of Freud’s first patients that modified Freud’s way of listening and also affected his wish, driving him on to the scientific formulation of psychoanalytic theory. Further more, this article points out different acts reported throughout Freud’s works that have caused crucial effects to psychoanalytic movements and also to the development of clinical theory.

The absent woman and the overwhelming femininity in Sarapalha

Da coletânea de contos Sagarana, de Guimarães Rosa, Sarapalha é construída em torno da prosa de dois homens solitários, acometidos pela malária e pelo abandono de uma mesma mulher, cuja ausência contrasta com inúmeras representações do feminino que os rodeiam. Ausência e paixão como desencadeantes de feminização dos personagens.

Sarapalha is a short story taken from a collection written by Guimarães Rosa, called Sagarana. This story is built around the conversation held between to lonely men who both are suffering from bodies seized by malaria and from being abandoned by the same woman. Her absence contrasts with the many feminine representations that surround them. Absence and passion trigger off the feminization of the characters.

Freud: Goehte’s double

Freud recebeu o Prêmio Goethe ainda em vida. Reconhecida a preeminência de pensador alemão em vários campos da vida prática e cultural da Europa de sua época, importância que até hoje não pode ser diminuída, Freud mostrou que Goethe já ostentava, tanto na sua vida quanto nos seus escritos, fundas intuições claramente psicanalíticas - um psicanalista avant la lettre. During his life, Freud was awarded for Goethe Prize. One has recognized the german thinker’s pre-eminence on practical and cultural life of Europe of his time, which importance cannot be reduced until today, Freud showed that Goethe already had announced, so much in his life, as in their writings, clearly psychoanalytic deep intuitions - a forestalled psychoanalyst. Also, the psychoanalysis’ creator feelings with regard to the master were affectionate including your recorded Goethe’s dreams.
