Deconstructing psychopathology in action research

O presente artigo explora a relação entre teoria e pesquisa a partir das reflexões sobre a desconstrução e a pesquisa ação. Para tanto, aborda a desconstrução em campos disntintos tais como a psicologia, a comunidade e a psicopatologia. Considera que a pesquisa ação contribui com indagações a respeito da mudança social no decorrer de toda pesquisa qualitativa, e aponta como vantagens desta a possibilidade de antecipar um melhor modelo de sociedade.

The present paper explores the relationship between theory and research starting from reflections about deconstruction and action research. So it focuses deconstruction on different areas as psychology, community and psychopathology. It considers that action research contributes with inquiries about social change throughout every qualitative research and it shows as advantages of qualitative research the possibility to advance a better society model.

To recuperate the mental health

Com o presente artigo, pretende-se mostrar a importância do humor na clínica psicanalítica. Ao abordar a comicidade, ressalta-se seu efeito propiciador de prazer nas relações sociais e sua dimensão sanitária. Considera-se que esta, a chave humorística, possa exercer um efeito positivo em todo o campo da saúde.

This paper intends to show the importance of the humour in the psychoanalytical clinics. In approaching the comic mood, it has emerged its effect providing pleasure in the social relationships and its sanitary dimension. This humorist key can have a positive effect on the whole health field.

The identification as structural system of the subject in the family

Com o propósito de buscar a compreensão do sujeito e dos espaços que o constituem, a família tem sido objeto de análises as quais, muitas vezes, decretam sua falência como lugar de constituição da subjetividade. Pelo presente texto, procura-se discutir alguns indicadores relativos à constituição do sujeito no espaço da família, os quais permitem afirmar, do ponto de vista da psicanálise, que o processo de subjetivação se desenrola, primariamente, no espaço intrapsíquico da família, e tem como um de seus elementos fundamentais a identificação. O grupo familiar, portanto, não deve ser tomado como estático. Dinâmico, sua transformação permanente traz novos padrões de funcionamento e de criação, pelos sujeitos, de novos núcleos relacionais, bastante distintos daqueles marcados pela hegemonia patriarcal.

Aiming at understanding the subject as such and the spaces where he is constituted, the family has been object of analyses which, many times, proclaim its ruin as far as a place of subjectivity constitution is concerned. The objective of this text is to discuss, from the psychoanalysis point-of-view, some indicators as regards the subject constitution inside the family group, which allow us to state that this process develops primarily through the family intrapsychical space and the identification is one of the essential elements involved in this process. Therefore, the family group rather than being considered as static should be taken as a dynamic group, whose permanent move reveals new patterns of functioning demanding from the subject the creation of new relationship nucleus, fully different from those marked by the patriarchal hegemony.

The cynical joy of the drug addict

O artigo discute o papel da ciência na produção da toxicomania. Enfoca o gozo cínico do toxicômano, no qual a droga opera como um gadget. Identifica no declínio do pai simbólico o rompimento do toxicômano com o gozo fálico. E aponta algumas diferenças entre alcoolismo e toxicomania.

The article argues the paper of science in the production of the drug addiction. It focuses the cynical joy of the drug addict, where the drug operates as one gadget. It identifies in the decline of the symbolic father the disruption of the drug addict with the phallic joy. And it indicates some differences between alcoholism and drug addiction.

Is drug addiction a social symptom?

O texto estabelece uma discussão sobre a toxicomania a partir da psicanálise, tomada como teoria da cultura. Nessa perspectiva, o qualificativo de "social" à resposta metafórica do sintoma seria a inscrição específica da articulação discursiva própria a tal sintoma no discurso social. Interroga-se o gozo na toxicomania, considerando algumas possibilidades relativas à relação entre a abstinência e a incorporação. A título de conclusão, discute-se a redução do laço social à dualidade em que o reencontro com o Grande Outro coincidiria com o objeto perdido, no qual a droga, o semelhante ou a autoridade seriam substituíveis, numa economia de gozo de trocas simples que faria reverberar os tempos do princípio do prazer.

This paper discusses drug addiction in the light of psychoanalysis, seen as a theory of culture. From this perspective, the use of the adjective "social" to refer to the metaphorical response of the symptom that represents a specific inscription of the discursive articulation proper to this symptom into the social discourse. The jouissance of drug addiction is questioned on the basis of certain possibilities related to the relationship between abstinence and incorporation. In conclusion, the author discusses the reduction of social ties to a duality whereby a re-encounter with the Other coincides with the lost object, where the drug, another person or an authority are replaceable, in an economy of jouissance of simple exchanges that would seen to bring back the days of the pleasure principle.

Psychosis and unchaining: sustentation and rupture

Com o presente artigo, pretende-se discutir o desencadeamento da psicose, considerando sua passagem do momento anterior (pré-psicose). É possível inferir que o desencadeamento da psicose possa ser evitado por uma relação dual imaginária estabelecida pelo sujeito, a qual evita o surto. De forma a examinar as razões presentes no desencadeamento da psicose, utilizou-se primeiramente as referências de Lacan sobre o crime das irmãs Papin, publicado em sua tese de doutorado em Medicina (1932). Posteriormente, selecionou-se partes do filme Entre elas, que se baseia em relatos do crime. Finalmente, uma hipótese é proposta sobre o motivo do desencadeamento, seguida de referências adicionais da teoria posterior de Lacan, que centra a questão da psicose no conceito da Verwerfung (foraclusão).

This article intends to discuss the psychosis trigger considering the passage from its previous moment: pre-psychosis. It's possible to infer that the trigger can be avoided by an imaginary dual relation established by the individual preventing him from the outbreak. In order to examine the reasons present in the trigger of psychosis, I firstly used Lacan's reference about the crime of the Papin sisters published in his doctoral dissertation of Medicine (1932). Secondly, I selected parts of the film Sister my sister that portrays the crime and was based on the real facts. Finally, a hypothesis is proposed on the reasons for the psychosis trigger followed by additional references about Lacan's later theory focusing the matter of psychosis on the concept of Verwerfung (foreclosure).

On the paternal metaphor and the foreclosure of the name-of-the-father: an introduction

Com o presente estudo, objetiva-se fazer uma leitura preliminar dos conceitos lacanianos de metáfora paterna e de foraclusão do nome-do-pai. Lacan coloca o Édipo como uma armadura significante mínima que permite a entrada do sujeito no mundo simbólico. Por ser simbólica, é possível operar a função paterna como uma metáfora; assim, o nome-do-pai entra em substituição ao falo como objeto de desejo da mãe. Produzindo o nome-do-pai, a criança nomeará, metaforicamente, o objeto fundamental de seu desejo, embora sem o saber, já que o significante originário foi recalcado. Mas esse processo é passível de falha na estrutura simbólica, e implica na foraclusão do nome-do-pai, acidente que ressoa sobre a estrutura imaginária, dissolvendo-a e conduzindo-a à estrutura elementar, o que provoca a desestruturação imaginária, paradigmática da psicose.

This study aims at presenting a preliminary reading of the lacanian concepts of paternal metaphor and foreclosure of the name-of-the-father. Lacan believes the Edipus complex is the minimum signifier armor allowing the subject to enter in the symbolic world. Since it is symbolical, the paternal function may operate as a metaphor. Thus, the name-of-the-father replaces the phallus as the object of the mother's desire. When producing the name-of-the-father, children will be metaphorically naming the fundamental object of their desire, even though they know it since the original signifier was repressed. Nevertheless, this process is subject to flaws in the symbolical structure, which imply the foreclosure of the name-of-the-father. Such accidents have an impact on the imaginary structure, which they dissolve and turn into an elementary structure, provoking the paradigmatic, imaginary deconstruction of psychoses.

Epilepsy: historical notion, conceptual aspects, diagnosis and treatment

Com o presente artigo, pretende-se demonstrar como a trajetória da epilepsia é inseparável da trajetória histórica e balizada por conceitos educacionais relevantes, tanto no que se refere ao diagnóstico quanto ao tratamento. É de fundamental importância considerar, também, as dimensões anatomofuncionais dessa doença, sem desconsiderar, no entanto, o conteúdo simbólico e as implicações místicas que sempre estiveram evidentes em torno de sua representação social. O artigo busca demonstrar que a falta de esclarecimento da população em relação à epilepsia causa atitudes discriminatórias a seu portador, comprometendo a melhoria deste, sua inclusão social, e, conseqüentemente, sua qualidade de vida.

This paper demonstrates how epilepsy trajectory is inseparable of its historical path, delimited by relevant educational concepts that are related not only to its diagnostic but also its treatment. Its also paramount to consider the anatomofunctional dimensions of the disease, without downgrading, however, the symbolic content and mystic implications that always surrounded its social representation. This paper demonstrates how the population's lack of knowledge regarding epilepsy motivates discriminatory behavior toward the patient, putting at risk his/her recovery, social inclusion and quality of life.
