Psycho-political narratives of homophobia

A homofobia opera sob diversas formas e sujeitos, e sua percepção é, portanto, muitas vezes subjetiva, própria de relações particulares experienciadas, no público e no privado, por cada indivíduo. Há, contudo, um elemento em comum que a constitui como campo de exercício do poder: a injúria é o laço psicopolítico que compreende as narrativas da homofobia.

Homophobia operates on several forms and subjects, so its perception is often subjective, experiences arising from each individual's particular relations in public and private affairs. However, there is a common element that constitutes it as a field for the exercise of power: injury is the psycho-political link that consists the narratives of homophobia.

Modern and contemporary eating disorders

Buscamos delimitar algumas coordenadas para uma leitura psicanalítica dos chamados transtornos alimentares na atualidade. As mudanças no discurso contemporâneo evidenciam-se no cenário dos fenômenos psicopatológicos e das novas configurações do mal-estar. A notória vacilação da metáfora paterna, como sintoma coletivo de enlaçamento da pulsão na esfera dos ideais, coloca em questão a psicopatologia tradicional, centrada na oposição neurose clássica - psicose extraordinária, cujo ponto cardeal é a presença ou ausência da inscrição da função do pai. Nessa conjuntura inédita, surgem discussões para redefinição das ferramentas diagnósticas. A passagem do moderno ao contemporâneo também alterou a abordagem dos transtornos alimentares. O enfoque no inconsciente interpretável cede espaço a considerações acerca da precariedade simbólica e seus efeitos desorganizadores no corpo. Apostamos numa apreensão mais precisa desses distúrbios pela localização do novo estatuto do fantasma nessas situações em que transborda o gozo corporal.

We seek to define some coordinates for a psychoanalytic reading of so-called eating disorders nowadays. Changes in the contemporary discourse have become evident on the scene of psychopathological phenomena and new settings of malaise. The notorious hesitation of the paternal metaphor as a collective symptom of bonding of the drive in the sphere of ideals, puts into question the traditional psychopathology focused on the binary opposition classical neurosis - extraordinary psychosis, whose cardinal point is the presence or absence of the paternal function. In this unprecedented context, plenty of discussions have come forth to redefine the diagnostic tools. The passage from modern to contemporary age has also changed the approach to eating disorders. The focus on the interpretable unconscious gives way to considerations about the symbolic precariousness and its disruptive effects on the body. We believe in a more precise apprehension of these disorders locating the new status of the phantasm in those situations in which the body jouissance overflows.

Hysterical contortion in the XXI century: elixirs and remedies

A história da histeria é a de um poderoso recalque que atravessa os séculos. Sabemos, desde Freud, que a plasticidade dos sintomas histéricos é historicamente determinada. Neste artigo, abordaremos os destinos desse recalque no laço social contemporâneo. O tratamento da histérica pelo discurso atual constitui o paradigma da desintegração do laço social enquanto este ultrapassa as ligações entre os indivíduos de uma dada sociedade.

The history of hysteria is that of a powerful repression that spans the centuries. We know from Freud that the plasticity of hysterical symptoms is historically determined. We will discuss the targets of this repression in the contemporary social bond. The treatment of hysteria by the current discourse is the paradigm of the disintegration of the social bond, while it overcomes the links between individuals of a given society.

The possibilities of a clinical intervention with battered women: victim status and masochistic fantasy

Este artículo presenta una reflexión acerca del quehacer clínico, basado en el enfoque psicoanalítico, con mujeres en situaciones de violencia. A partir de la experiencia clínica atendiendo a mujeres que sufren violencia doméstica, realizada en una institución en la ciudad de San Luis Potosí, se hace un análisis crítico respecto a la atención que se brinda a estas mujeres.

This article presents a reflection about clinical work, based on psychoanalytic approach, on cases of women in domestic violence situation. From clinical experience serving women experiencing domestic violence, conducted in a government institution on behalf of women in the city of San Luis Potosi, emerged the desire to do a critical analysis regarding the care provided to women.

Este artigo apresenta uma reflexão sobre o trabalho clínico, baseado na abordagem psicanalítica, com as mulheres em situação de violência. A partir da experiência clínica servindo mulheres vítimas de violência doméstica, realizado em uma instituição governamental pro mulheres, na cidade de San Luis Potosi, Veio o desejo de fazer uma análise crítica quanto ao atendimento prestado às mulheres.

Transsexuality and sexuation: what can psychoanalysis

Neste trabalho, discutimos a posição do transexual em contraponto ao discurso capitalista e à ciência. No texto, questionamos tal posição antes da possibilidade de mudança do corpo promovida pelas novas técnicas cirúrgicas e perguntamo-nos: em um tempo anterior a essa oferta cirúrgica não havia sujeitos transexuais? Como disse Lacan, a oferta cria a demanda e o resultado dessas intervenções não livram o sujeito da castração que é simbólica e marca uma inadequação estrutural entre corpo e sexo social.

In this work we discuss the position of the transsexual as opposed to the capitalist discourse and to science. In this text, we question the transsexual's position by new surgical techniques and ask: in a time before this surgical supply, were there not transsexual subjects? As Lacan said, the supply creates the demand and the outcome of these interventions, on the one hand, do not free the neurotic subject of castration, which is symbolic, and marks a structural mismatch between body and social gender, on the other hand, also does not operate the castration for a psychotic subject. Although in some instances it may function as a substitutive.

The mystery of symptoms: proposition for a psychoanalytical and political listening of suffering at work

A ideia central do artigo é enunciar uma política do sintoma como um caminho possível para fundamentar a proposição de uma escuta clínica crítica e psicanalítica do trabalho. Apesar de apresentar fragmentos de dois atendimentos na Bélgica e no Brasil, não existe o propósito de realizar uma análise clínica exaustiva dos casos, mas usá-los para ilustrar como o enigma dos sintomas atravessa a fala e a escuta do sofrimento na prática em clínica do trabalho. Pretende elucidar os caminhos para decifrar esses enigmas e revelar seus destinos, partindo do pressuposto de que esse percurso está contaminado pela posição subjetiva, política e ética do clínico do trabalho.

The aim of the paper is to enunciate a politics of symptom as a possible way to support the proposition of a critical clinical and psychoanalytical listening work. Despite having two treatment fragments in Belgium and Brazil, there is not the purpose performing an exhaustive analysis of clinical cases, but using them to illustrate how the puzzle of symptoms through the speaking and listening suffering in practice in clinical work. Aims to elucidate the routes of these puzzles and reveal their destinations, on the assumption that this route is contaminated by the subjective, policy and ethics position of the clinical work.

The clinic of the elderly in a situation of vulnerability and suicide risk

Este artigo objetiva refletir sobre os fatores psicossociais potencializadores de ideações e tentativas de suicídio em idosos. Foi feita uma investigação multicêntrica e interdisciplinar que considerou a situação singular de cada idoso, tendo como parâmetro a "Clínica Ampliada" visando abordar as várias facetas que envolveram o sofrimento dos sujeitos. Os resultados indicam o agravamento de doenças e deficiências, abandono, abusos físicos, psicológicos, financeiros, negligências e autonegligências.

This article aims to reflect upon psychosocial factors that enhance ideations and suicide attempts in the elderly. A multicentric and interdisciplinary research has been done to consider the unique situation of each elder, having as parameter the "Enlarged Clinic" aimed to address the many facets surrounding the suffering of the subjects. The results indicate worsening of disease and disability, abandonment, physical abuse, psychological, financial, neglect and self-neglect.

Masochism: the fusion between eros and thanatos

O presente artigo visa fazer um recorte sobre a constituição do sujeito a partir do masoquismo erógeno e os seus desdobramentos. A afirmativa de Freud em 1923 de que o masoquismo erógeno seria o testemunho do momento mítico da fusão entre pulsão de vida e a pulsão de morte, revela uma articulação importante entre o masoquismo e a constituição do sujeito. O masoquismo passa a ser uma fonte privilegiada para compreender aquilo que temos de mais arcaico na vida psíquica. A metodologia utilizada nessa pesquisa foi uma revisão bibliográfica.

The main objective of this article is to rethink how the subjects constitute themselves through the concept of erogenous masochism. The Freudian statement (1923) that the erogenous masochism was a witness of the early moments where there was a fusion between life drive and the death drive, reveals the straight bond between the notion of masochism and the emergency of the subjects in the psychoanalysis theory. Therefore, masochism is a privileged source for the understanding of primitive aspects of mental life onset. The methodology used through this research was a conceptual-historic bibliographic investigation of the complete works of Sigmund Freud, the father of Psychoanalysis.

Attitudes of the media towards language: belief, ideology, and prejudice beneath the strong rejection for a didactic textbook

Este trabalho analisa exemplares de um discurso recorrente na imprensa brasileira durante a forte e massiva reação de repúdio ao livro didático Por uma Vida Melhor (RAMOS, 2009), que, em 2011, foi distribuído pelo MEC a estudantes de escolas públicas afiliadas ao programa de Educação de Jovens e Adultos - EJA. Concluímos que, apesar de o texto examinado, representante de uma opinião pública, recusar-se veementemente a admitir a existência de preconceito linguístico, sustentando essa negativa com crenças e posturas ideológicas, o preconceito linguístico é manifesto em seu discurso, despontando na forma de avaliação negativa das variantes relacionadas a falantes de pouca escolaridade. Para mostrar como a avaliação, a crença e o preconceito emergem nesse texto, lançamos mão dos conceitos da teoria sociolinguística de Weinreich, Labov e Herzog (1966).

This article discusses the reaction of the Brazilian media towards Por uma Vida Melhor (RAMOS, 2009), a textbook distributed in 2011 by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) to the public schools, engaged in young adult education (EJA). We will deal with the manifestation and disguising of language prejudice in the discourse of a relevant publication. We will point out how the negative attitude towards the variants associated to poorly educated Brazilians is visible beneath the argumentation, in spite of the strong refusal of the author to the existence of such prejudice, a refusal sustained by ideological postures and strong inner believes. In order to treat the evaluation, the beliefs, and the prejudice in the text, we resort to sociolinguistic concepts of Weinreich, Labov & Herzog (1966).

The adherence to the contemporary musical discourse: a rhetorical approach

O estudo do discurso com ênfase no auditório foi o mais importante legado de Chaim Perelman dentre suas contribuições à Retórica. Esse viés, que em primeira instância já constava na retórica aristotélica, foi fundamental para que se esclarecesse a noção de persuasão e convencimento, e sua ligação com o objetivo do discurso: a adesão. Quando se toma, entretanto, como objeto de análise um discurso não verbal, as interações entre orador e público e a negociação dos significados do discurso ficam prejudicadas e passam a demandar outros índices de avaliação. É o caso do discurso musical. Sendo que para Perelman "uma argumentação eficaz é aquela que consegue aumentar a intensidade da adesão", será discutido como a adesão pode ser definida na Música Contemporânea. Como objeto de análise será utilizada a peça Sequenza XIV (2002), de Luciano Berio (1925-2003).

The study of discourse with an emphasis in the audience was the most important legacy left by Chaim Perelman among his contributions to rhetorics. This bias, although present in Aristotelian rhetoric yet, was crucial in order to clarify the adherence. However, when it is taken as an object of analysis a non-verbal discourse, interactions between speaker and audience and the negotiation of the meanings of speech are impaired and begin to demand other evaluation indexes. This is the case of the musical discourse. Since for Perelman "an effective argument is that you can increase the intensity of adherence", we will discuss how adherence can be set in contemporary music. The object of analysis to this study is the piece Sequenza XIV (2002), written by the Italian composer Luciano Berio (1925-2003).

Reforma psiquiátrica e cidadania: considerações a partir de uma experiência

O estudo investigou como o CAPS da cidade de Castro, no Paraná, vem configurando seu serviço para atender os usuários nos princípios da Reforma Psiquiátrica Brasileira. Analisam-se as ações e intervenções pautadas na cidadania. Os resultados indicam tensões, paradoxos e contradições nas mudanças paradigmáticas da hospitalização, asilamento e exclusão para a desospitalização, desinstitucionalização e inclusão.

The study investigated how the CAPS of the city of Castro, Paraná, is setting its service to meet the users on the principles of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform. The actions are analyzed and interventions guided by citizenship. The results indicate tensions, paradoxes, and contradictions in the paradigmatic changes of hospitalization, institutionalization, and exclusion for dehospitalization, deinstitutionalization, and inclusion.
