This research had as aim to understand fathers perceive and go along with the professional choice process of adolescent sons and how these sons see paternal participation at this moment of their lives. A qualitative approach was used and an interview was carried out with four fathers (who were separated and not remarried) and five adolescents (who lived only with their fathers). Results show fathers that are active and participative in their son's education, whishing for them to inherit their own professional career, but, at the same time, respecting their son's choice for other professions. The adolescents' speeches show their perceptions of paternal influence and preoccupation regarding their moment of choosing a career.
