The violence uses physical strength or power, as real act or menace, resulting, or being able to result in death, damage to the body, the mind, delay of development or privation. As a specific kind of violence, one may quote the intimate partner violence (IPV). Violence against women causes devastating emotional damages and severe impact to health. The goals of the study were to find out if female victims in a community sample of thirty subjects looked out for any kind of help and which kind. The study used a transversal qualitative approach employing a semi-structured interview script. Main results point psychological violence as the most quoted, showed that most of the victims didn`t search for aid and, when they did, the search went from formal to informal sources of help. Taking account of the complexity of the matter, one might call it a challenge to prevent and fight this type of violence.
