Abstract

The article aims to identify the characteristics of the discourse on male homosexuality and lesbianism constructed by the Chinese Psychology by analyzing its published articles between 2012 and 2016. A content analysis and an argumentative analysis were carried out using as corpus the articles found in a previous systematic review. We found that the Chinese Psychology has built up (a) a sick homosexual population; (b) the hypersexuality of the male homosexual population; (c) stigmatization of homosexuality; (d) the rejection of the existence of homosexuality and; (e) the invisibility of the female homosexual collective. Therefore, we conclude that Chinese Psychology shows some homophobia, sometimes explicit. From a cultural point of view, with this study we argue that Chinese psychological discourses are consolidating the priority role of the reproductive responsibility of men and women and deepening the invisibility of the lesbian population, as well as the female population in general.
