Abstract

SOSA, Valentina  and  IMHOFF, Débora. Political socialization of gender in childhood. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.56, pp.98-114.  Epub May 27, 2024. ISSN 2175-1390.

This article proposes a theoretical review around the dimension of political socialization linked to gen der; and the notion of gender political socialization, specifically aimed at children, . It is a theoretical study that makes a conceptual proposal from the bibliographic review of the area. It is concluded that gender socialization processes begin in childhood, giving children different guidelines and conditioning their access to different opportunities, including political ones. Gender as a relational category makes social relationships visible, where the dominance associated with the male gender becomes an expression of social inequality. Thus, children are placed in different positions, while any sexual dissent is resisted and denied in childhood.

Keywords : Socialization; Politics; Gender; Childhood; Social inequality.
