Abstract
RIBEIRO, Rui Bártolo and ALMEIDA, Leandro S.. Reaction time and intelligence: strong data for a week explanation. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2005, vol.4, n.2, pp.95-103. ISSN 1677-0471.
The reaction time on elementary and complex cognitive tasks is statistically correlated with intelligence tests. Subjects with higher cognitive capacity present shorter reaction times, namely in more complex tasks involving choice. These data have been confirmed on a sample of 300 candidates in a professional selection situation that included Raven Progressive Matrices (standard version). Even though literature analyses the individual differences in reaction time as reflecting central components of information processing, for example, suggesting that short-term memory mediates the relationship between intelligence and reaction time, in this study we will try to introduce non cognitive factors on decision making to explain these correlation coefficients.
