Abstract

SANTOS, Antonia Cláudia Soares Leão dos  and  PEDROSO, Janari da Silva. Brazilian adaptations of the bick observation method in empirical research. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.1, pp.101-114. ISSN 1677-2970.

This theoretical review article analyzes the Brazilian scientific production on adaptations of the Bick method in empirical research. The search was performed on SciELO, LILACS and PePSIC databases, from 2000 to 2015, using the descriptors: Bick method, observation of babies and mother-baby relationship. We identified the concepts that underlie the observation, adaptation of the method, participants and research findings. We concluded that adjustments occurred in the number of sessions, participants' age (newborns, children and adults) according to the observation, transcription and supervision, and were able to capture subjective information that is inaccessible through participants' narratives.

Keywords : infant observation; Bick method; mother-baby relationship; psychoanalysis.
