Abstract

There are not many studies that evaluate the cognitive performance of healthy elderly through a battery selected for this purpose. Objective: To neuropsychological assess the cognitive function of healthy elderly. Methods: 17 elderly respondents underwent a battery of neuropsychological tests, investigating funcitons of mnestics, attentional, executive, intellectual, language, praxis, mood and the basic activities of daily living and instrumental complex. Results: The main results suggested the presence of more significant changes in the functions mnestics, attentional, and processing speed. 41.08% of those related to the memory of nonverbal immediate recall and 64% for sustained attention, alternating attention to 76.45%, 64.61% the speed of processing. Conclusion: The findings highlight the importance of investigating cognitive functioning in healthy elderly subjects without cognitive complaints, with the intention of reducing costs and public expenditures and undertake the planning of preventive or remedial.
