Abstract

MAGALHAES, Mauro de Oliveira; BRITO, Fernanda de Souza  and  FERRAZ, Daniel Silva de Amorim. Retirement Resources Inventory: an expansion proposal. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.1, pp.27-38. ISSN 1984-7270.  https://doi.org/10.26707/1984-7270/2022v23n203.

This research investigated the psychometric properties of an expanded version of the Retirement Resources Inventory (IRA) and its relationship with the adjustment of retirees. The IRA assesses six adjustment resources (health, finance, social, cognitive, motivational and emotional) and has been expanded to include sense of mastery and intrinsic motivation. 454 retirees participated, with an average age of 64 years, 66% women, 43.2% with income up to 5 minimum wages. Exploratory factor analyzes with confirmatory indices revealed satisfactory data adequacy to the projected factor structure. In regression analyses, mastery was the most important predictor of adjustment, followed by social resources, stable cohabitation, and health. Interventions are recommended to develop the sense of mastery of workers close to retirement.

Keywords : retirement; adjustment; psychological assessment.
