Regarding the use of drugs, 1.6% of the sample used marijuana and 5.6% inhalant drugs. A correlation of 0.34 (p < 0.05) has been identified between suicidal ideation and drug use, and of 0.33 (p < 0.05) between attempted suicide and drug use. The results point to an emerging need for outreach programs with attention focused on prevention of suicides and drug consumption.
