Abstract

The consumption in the current society has the function of moving the economy, reaffirming capitalism as an economy model. This results in an important and contradictory question to the solidarity economy developments. This research had the purpose of understanding what are the meanings assigned to the consumption form for the people that participate in the urban economy solidarity developments of credit, in regards to their insertion in the traditional capitalist economy. It was observed that the big challenge posed to the solidary economy of recreating, together with the people inserted in this movement, meaning zones turned to solidarity, both in dimension of consumption and other life dimensions, was that the majority that lived experiences in this area are still limited on the articulation between work, production, sales and consumption. On the other hand, it is evident that the consumption is like a space that allows the creation of little ruptures and resistances to the economic system, even for people not so engaged with the economy solidarity movement.
