Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Áurea de Fátima  and  SOUZA, Marcos Aguiar de. Employee confidence in the organization: impact of personal and organizational values. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.2, pp.204-217. ISSN 1984-6657.

This study aimed to verify the predictive power of personal and organizational values regarding employee confidence in the organization. We used as reference the theory of human values and organizational values that express similar motivations of the individual and the organization. The study sample consisted of 781 employees linked to distinct organizations. Data collection was performed using the following scale: Inventory of Organizational Values Profile, Personal Values Inventory and Trust Scale of the employee in the organization. The factor analysis showed good psychometrics indicators for all the scales. The criterion variables were: confidence in ethical standards, financial recognition / promotion of employee growth, economic strength of the organization and rules governing the dismissal of employees. The results indicated that, in every model, personal values explained the reduced percentage of variance when compared to organizational values such as: achievement / autonomy, employee welfare, domain, prestige, compliance and concern for the community. According to the results, employee confidence in the organization seems to be based on an assessment of the organizational system. Hence, organizational values as a variable of macro systemic nature could be perceived as more relevant in explaining the trust.

Keywords : social values; organizational culture; trust.
