Abstract

LABAKI, Maria Elisa Pessoa  and  CARTOCCI, Luciana. The maternal side of the psychoanalytic practice: Aspects on the frame and the analyst's body. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2016, vol.50, n.3, pp.184-195. ISSN 0486-641X.

This paper presents and develops a discussion about the method in the psychoanalytic practice, and its likenesses with the maternal field. The authors highlight some aspects of the frame and its handling. They also emphasize features of the psychoanalyst's presence and body that would correspond to maternal ways, which establish and organize the practice. Without disregarding the paternal dimension of the frame (which is related to its tertiary function), this paper highlights the property, better known as frame, in the maternal function. By operating in two fronts, the frame creates a topos to be fulfilled while protecting the processes and experiences that are produced there. The practice of presence (also called presence practice or sensitive practice) is based in the mutual affection of the psychoanalytic pair. The herein described maternal field follows closely the field of the exchanges that are offered by the mother, despite not being confused with mothering - otherwise, it would be considered no longer psychoanalysis. Ferenczi and Winnicott, whose proposals have inspired this paper, are the referential authors.

Keywords : maternal; frame; transference; presence; reflexivity.
