Abstract

RAMOS, Maria Beatriz Jacques. Phobia: splitting of the ego and blindness. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2007, n.30, pp.87-94. ISSN 0100-3437.

This text discusses a contemporary matter: the phobia. The sole manifestation of phobia is fear, quietlessness in situations of real or imaginary danger. The phobia means the suffering that threatens the self in its defensive and symbolic aspects. The fear is present in our lives, either in the clinical practice or evoked from the urban violence that we watch or take part as victims. People can go through fear or seek for it on its transit in the line between reality and fantasy. The fear, or phobia, leads us to something, to a scenario, to an object. The question is: how to treat the phobia that arises from an anxiety neurosis? This article reports the crossed way of a shrink that faces the actual world demands; a globalized, multi-sided world that can hurt and tear the human soul apart.

Keywords : Abandonment; Phobia; Fear.
