Abstract

BARROS, Glória. Analytical Setting in everyday clinic. Estud. psicanal. [online]. 2013, n.40, pp.71-78. ISSN 0100-3437.

We pondered about the analytical Setting and the clinical handling of our everyday practice under the light of the psychoanalytical theory. We first referred to the Freudian vision and, later on, we approached Ferenczi and Winnicott, two classic authors in the theorizing of Setting/handling of patients with larger psychic endangerment or even resistant against the therapeutic process, so as to facilitate psychic changes in the psychoanalytical process. Some fragments of an analysis in our clinic show a well-succeeded experience and reinforce our certainty that the analyst's move is fundamental to establish communication in the therapeutic Setting. His adaptation to the patient's needs constitutes the primordial factor for the clinical handling, with the Setting handling being the main resource in the treatment of much-regressed patients. The warmest initial reception, the flexibility of the sessions duration to listen to her, to welcome her and the availability to assist on some of the patient's manifested needs showed to be of great importance. I believe that the creation of a Setting adapted to Marina's needs during a stage in her analytical process provided her with strengthening and growth.
