Abstract

LOUREIRO, Ines. Irony/ironies in Freud: from writing to ethics. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2007, vol.30, n.45, pp.13-19. ISSN 0101-3106.

This paper presents and discusses the concept of irony in several of its dimensions: its popular use, literary irony, irony as awareness of the limits of language, and irony as an attitude in face of existence. The latter addresses the notion of romantic irony and the concept of irony in Richard Rorty. This paper points to possible connections between irony, in all these dimensions, and Freudian psychoanalysis.

Keywords : Language; Mourning; Remembrance; Repetition.
