Abstract

SILVA, Franklin Leopoldo e. Indifferent behaviour. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2008, vol.31, n.47, pp.24-29. ISSN 0101-3106.

This paper intends to understand some aspects of indifference as a general behaviour we can observe in our days. More than a simple behaviour, it is a way of life, that we must connect with two process of existence: self-construction of subjectivity and experience of the other. We experiment, in order of elucidate the questions, some ideas of Sartre’s Being an nothingless and Musil’s novel Man without qualities. We believe that it is possible to show that, in the context of Existencial Philosophy, the internal relation between self and other advances the process of free self-constitution, but in Musil’s context the missing character of substantial identity would carry to reality’s dissolution. Indifference appears as singular behaviour, although seemingly related to strangeness and familiarity.

Keywords : Other; Conscience; Existence; Dissolution; Subjectivity.
