Abstract

This work proposes to approach the poem It seems to me that he is like gods (VII Century BC), by Sappho, as compared with the songs Nerves of steel, by Lupicínio Rodrigues, and Love Jealousy, by Caetano Veloso - all these texts teaching us to "say" the love we feel, to verbalize that which we all live and feel in a confused manner, and, without poetry, would remain inexpressible and would not last. Referring to the myth, or better, departing from the perception of our stigmatizing radical incompleteness, which has been displayed in myths of different cultural sorts (the Greek myth of Androgynous, in Plato's Banquet, and the biblical one, of Eve being born out of Adam's rib, in the Genesis), in the three poems, with 27 Centuries in between, it is possible to witness the same passional vibration: jealousy. And, notwithstanding the adoption of the principle that man is a historical being, and that all human experiences are historically modulated, a dialectics prevails between historicity of passion and the presence of invariants.
