Abstract

ZONANA, Raya Angel. Transferences: a cubist painting?. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2013, vol.36, n.56, pp.177-191. ISSN 0101-3106.

After three hundred years, in 1957, Picasso, under the disruptive light of Cubism, sketches variations of the 1657 painting The Maids of Honour, by Velázquez. With a series of 58 paintings, Picasso established a creative and fertile dialogue with Velázquez. In a psychoanalytic session, the change of light, drive-related energy, evokes in the patient a memory that breaks the scene and provokes variations in the transference. These two aesthetic experiences suggest to the author a correlation between the many facets of the transference that emerge between the analytic pair and the multiple visions proposed by a Cubist painting.

Keywords : Transference; Aesthetic experience; Cubism.
