Abstract

MIGLIAVACCA, Eva Maria. Embates: Battles. Ide (São Paulo) [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.71, pp.44-62. ISSN 0101-3106.

In the following article, I aim to examine, albeit partially, two types of battles that every man may face, the epic one and the tragic one. In order to do so, examples of the Homeric epics and the Greek tragedy are considered, more precisely, the Iliad and Antigone. Next, I reflect on how these two battles intertwine in the psychic dynamics. Ulysses' journey works as the inspiration starting point and permeates the entire narrative.

Keywords : Myth; Homeric epics; Greek tragedy; conflict.
