Abstract

CIDADE, Wania Maria Coelho Ferreira. Racial issues and psychoanalytic training: it’s all for yesterday. J. psicanal. [online]. 2022, vol.55, n.103, pp.141-148.  Epub July 08, 2024. ISSN 0103-5835.  https://doi.org/10.5935/0103-5835.v55n103.10.

The article intends to deal with claims that were born in Black Social Movements, but that affect psychoanalytic institutions as they deal with the exclusion of blacks from places of knowledge and power and in which they seek to retell history from their own knowledge, installing new narratives that break with the oppression and silencing coming from the colonial system. The text summarizes the history of the psychoanalytic movement in Brazil to show how the formation in the area was, little by little, whitening, despite the fact that in its beginnings psychoanalysis had the participation of black precursors and pioneers. The article mainly aims to make public the need to expand access to black people in the process of psychoanalytic training.

Keywords : white supremacy; psychoanalytic institutions; denial; racism; colonization of knowledge.
