Abstract

SCHUCMAN, Lia Vainer. Racial issues and psychoanalytic training: it’s all for yesterday. J. psicanal. [online]. 2022, vol.55, n.103, pp.169-177.  Epub July 08, 2024. ISSN 0103-5835.  https://doi.org/10.5935/0103-5835.v55n103.13.

This speech aimed to make a contribution to the field of study that relates the categories of race, racism and psychology, and is part of national and international interdisciplinary studies on whiteness. In order to do so, the author analyzes how white subjects appropriate the category of race and racism in the constitution of their subjectivities, pointing out the fact that racism and the fallacious idea of race, built in the 19th century, still echo in the modes of subjectivation of white individuals.

Keywords : whiteness; psychoanalysis; racial relations.
