Abstract

RIBES INESTA, Emilio  and  PEREZ-ALMONACID, Ricardo. The logical function of the concept of contact medium. Acta comport. [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.2, pp.235-249. ISSN 0188-8145.

The concept of contact medium is examined, distinguishing it from the concepts of environment, space, object, and that of medium in other disciplines. Its logical function covers the enabling of functional contacts, being a permission/restriction category, which refers to dimensions or domains. Every type of contact medium is detailed and exemplified in regard to its relational, multiple, concurrent, and dynamic nature, and to the form in which enabling and the inclusion of one medium in another operates. It is shown how enabling implies diverse actualization forms of the contact medium based upon individual reactivity and activity, emphasizing the conventional contact medium, one of its forms being categorical adjustment. Finally, it is pointed out that being enabled is precisely defined in terms of its respective enabling conditions.

Keywords : physico-chemical contact medium; ecological contact medium; conventional contact medium; enabling; categorical adjustment.
