Abstract

VIDAL, Manola. Dreams about the states of self and the restoration of self. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2010, vol.44, n.4, pp.135-145. ISSN 0486-641X.

The objective of this study is to demonstrate how the interpretation of self-state dreams was used in the treatment of an adult victimized by sexual violence as a child. Through a cutout of the period of twenty-three months of service, we are presented with deadlock situations in the therapeutic process which approach the complexities of contemporary psychoanalytic practice. These impasses deal with the choice between a standard medical device or medical devices closer to the unique needs of each person being analyzed. It is considered that the recognition and use of self-state dreams point to a breakthrough in the field of the management of technique and are based on psychoanalytic theory produced by Heinz Kohut.

Keywords : psychoanalytic self psychology; sexual violence; defense structure; compensation structure; self-state dreams.
