Abstract

SILVA, Doralúcia Gil da; GAVA, Lara Lages  and  DELL'AGLIO, Débora Dalbosco. Symptomatology and psychopathology in children and adolescents victims of alleged sexual abuse: from a positive's psychology perspective. Aletheia [online]. 2013, n.40, pp.58-73. ISSN 1413-0394.

This study aims to investigate the absence of symptomatology and psychopathology in children and adolescent victims of alleged sexual abuse, emphasizing the positive coping from this type of violence. Our research involved analyzing 927 psychological and psychiatric reports from the Department of Legal Medicine of Rio Grande do Sul. We observed symptoms and psychopathology in reports with and without evidence of sexual abuse occurring. At the same time, we observed cases without symptoms and psychopathology in reports with evidence of sexual abuse occurring, indicating that there is no direct relationship between these variables. We recognized the need to consider, in the evaluation of cases, the victims' personal resources, coping strategies, protection factors and resilient processes that contribute for a healthy development.

Keywords : Sexual abuse; Positive coping; Symptomatology.
