Abstract

The Psychology and Psychologist in Brazil are still marked by many social stereotypes. From the Theory of Social Representations, we seek to identify the social representations of Psychology and Psychologist in university subjects a Private School of Rondônia. Quantitative study, with own instrument and a sample of 110 subjects; Results: psychologist has social importance, as a scholar of behavior, mind, emotions and human relationships with locus of work in health, education, legal, organizational and work, and clinic; seen as a normal person, although "complicated", using group dynamics, listening, testing and "advice" as working tools; on the relationship psychology-other fields of knowledge, we seek in religion, friends and family problem solving, without differentiating well Psychiatry of the Psychology; We conclude that a perception of psychologists and psychology has been changing the face of traditional stereotypes and social representations.
