Abstract

PAGLIARIN, Karina Carlesso et al. Neuropsychological assessment of language after right brain damage: instruments for functional and performance evaluation. Temas psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.1, pp.213-226. ISSN 1413-389X.

This study aimed at presenting a review on neuropsychological assessment of language after right brain damage in adults, looking for instruments that evaluate right hemisphere functions and for instruments that examine functional language and to verify the frequency of international studies that cite the instruments that evaluate right hemisphere abilities or of functional language. Traditional literature of neuropsychology on language neuropsychological assessment was consulted to identify which batteries evaluate right hemisphere linguistic abilities and which instruments examine functional language. To establish the frequency of international publication regarding these batteries, a survey on the PubMed database was carried out. A low frequency of tests that evaluate patients with right hemisphere lesion was verified. A greater diffusion and use of these instruments in clinic and research is seen as very important.
