Abstract
KLAUTAU, Perla and DAMOUS, Issa. Pathways and detours of mourning: The work of separation in mother-baby relation. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.33, pp.51-68. ISSN 1413-6295.
In this article, we propose to follow the paths and detours of mourning in the separation process, as far as the relation of presence / absence between mother and baby is concerned. We understand that the quality of maternal presence favors a mourning pathway by means of independence or, on the contrary, prevents mourning through a pathway of dependence reassurance in which separation may inflict wounds as evidenced by melancholy. Then we highlight the importance of interplay between presence and absence during the separation process, presenting a fragment of a clinical case marked by maternal excess and ambiguity in terms of protection / engulfment, care / invasion, love / hate when feeding her daughter invasively and insistently.
