Abstract

CARLOTTO, Mary Sandra  and  CAMARA, Sheila Gonçalves. Psychometric characteristics of the Work Satisfaction Questionnaire (S20/23). PsicoUSF [online]. 2008, vol.13, n.2, pp.203-210. ISSN 1413-8271.

The Work Satisfaction Questionnaire - S20/23 was developed to evaluate work satisfaction according to a five-dimension theoretical model: supervision satisfaction; work environment satisfaction; organization policies and benefits satisfaction; work intrinsic satisfaction; and participation satisfaction. This article analyses the instrument's psicometric characteristics (reliability and construct validity) in a sample of 620 workers. Through the principal axis factoring extraction method, using oblimin rotation, were identified three factors which explained 53% of variance: hierarchical relation satisfaction; work environment satisfaction; and work intrinsic satisfaction and professional growth opportunities. All dimensions presented satisfactory alphas, over 0,77, considering internal consistency. The results demonstrated a new factorial configuration of the S20/23 that presents the necessary requirements of internal consistency and construct validity, thus it can be indicated to be used to evaluate work satisfaction in the Brazilian environment.
