Abstract

MAGALHAES, Mauro  and  REDIVO, Andrea. Re-opção de curso e maturidade vocacional. Rev. ABOP [online]. 1998, vol.2, n.2, pp.7-28. ISSN 1414-8889.

This study interviewed six men and six women, ranging in age from 18 to 21, about the experience of vocational re-option. All of them  requested re-option of university course to the Center of Educational Guidance (NOE) of ULBRA. The semi-structured interviews approached the motivations of the re-option, the vocational exploratory behavior, life projects and decision-making. The analysis of the reports highlighted the following categories: the desire to study at university, academic difficulties, labor market and profitability, continuity to the business of the family, deception with the course, and uncertainty in relation to the re-option. The interpretation of the results showed that the re-option of university course, as well as the first made option, were characterized by vocational immaturity, according to Super (1983). The re-option was not accompanied by an increase in vocational maturity.

Keywords : Vocational re-option; Vocational matu; Decision-making.
