Abstract

MARTENS, Vera Márcia. Leveling skills of reading and writing: a teaching in the public schools of integral education outside the school failure. Constr. psicopedag. [online]. 2016, vol.24, n.25, pp.119-132. ISSN 1415-6954.

Teachers complains are very frequent about the lack of proficiency in basic skills of reading and writing that many students bring with them from the early years of elementary education, to higher education. This lack of proficiency has different causes and may lead to academic failure and learning disabilities. It can also destroy a person's self-esteem and life goals. This article set out to discuss the pedagogic dimension of academic failure and how the Leveling Process of basic skills in reading and writing can be considered not only an emergency action inside the school to fight academic failure, but also a great opportunity for this same school to review itself as a place in fact dedicated to help all of its students to learn.

Keywords : Academic failure; Teaching [learning]; Lack of proficiency in basic skills of reading and writing; Leveling Process.
