Abstract

ZACHARIAS, José Jorge de Morais. An essay about Psychology and Religion: particular views. Psicol inf. [online]. 2010, vol.14, n.14, pp.171-180. ISSN 1415-8809.

Psychology and religion are two areas that present an intimate relationship in the analytical context of the clinical práxis. According to the positive tradition, Psychology as a branch of science tends to exclude the patient’s religious experiences or to consider them as the sole product of psychosocial influences. In our contemporary culture the status of truth is given just to the postulates that can be demonstrated in a conventional scientific methodology. However, science is one source of knowledge, just as religion, arts and philosophy and none has the ultimate truth. The phenomenon can be accessed by different visions, but there isn’t a better vision. The life experience happens in this quaternary phenomenal field, including Psychological science, Art, Philosophy and Religion and the comprehension of this relation in the process of the analysis will lead to a deeper comprehension of human life

Keywords : religion; religiosity; analytical practice; religion psychology.
