Abstract

KAMMER, Katharina Pereira; MORO, Larissa Moraes  and  ROCHA, Kátia Bones. Conceptions and practices of autonomy in a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS): everyday challenges. Rev. psicol. polít. [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.47, pp.36-50. ISSN 2175-1390.

This article aims to analyze the conceptions of autonomy in the daily care of a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS). This is a qualitative cross-sectional and exploratory study carried out at a CAPS in the south of Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil. The participants were six professionals, six users and three family members. Semi-structured interviews and field diary were conducted and analyzed through Thematic Analysis. Results show several conceptions about autonomy, referring to life management, independence and self-sufficiency, and as a process built from relationships. The importance of therapeutic workshops and outdoors activities is highlighted as such practices strengthen autonomy. It is necessary to perceive autonomy as something that can potentially expand and diversify relationships, understanding it as a transversal goal of all practices inside and outside the CAPS.

Keywords : Mental Health; Psychosocial Attention; Autonomy; Psychosocial Care Cente.
