Abstract

PINHO, Miriam Ximenes. In the vertigo of the pain: mourning in the zone between the living and the dead. Stylus (Rio J.) [online]. 2014, n.28, pp.117-129. ISSN 1676-157X.

Freud considered mourning "a great enigma, one of those phenomena which relate to other obscure things." Departing from the singularity of a clinical case, we risk entering the mourning enigma as well as well as its obscurities. From the case, we intend to extract three strands - listed as "in the vertigo of the pain", "the statute of the dead", and "mourning in between recalling and repeating" - which will serve the purpose of leading into the writing, and also help illustrate and articulate some propositions on mourning in Freud, Lacan, and Jean Allouch. A writing process which aims at less clarifying the "obscure things" that surround mourning than contributing, in its impasses, to its clinical and theoretical questioning.

Keywords : Mourning; Treatment direction; Psychoanalysis.
