Abstract
TONELI, Maria Juracy Filgueiras. Homophobia in young urban contexts: contribution to the gender studies. Psic [online]. 2006, vol.7, n.2, pp.31-38. ISSN 1676-7314.
This work is based on results collected in Florianópolis (Brazil), of a multicentric research developed in five Brazilian capitals and financed by the Health Department. The exercise of the sexuality in young urban contexts was investigated by semi-structuralized interviews and focal groups with public schools students from 15 to 24 years old. The clipping focuses the declarations about homoerotic relationships and the rights of the homosexuals. The homophobic character is highlighted in the speeches of younger men that argue for the fear of the siege of the homosexuals, as well as for its own reputation as males if they are identified by other people by means of the friendship with gays. Biological essentialisms and religious fundamentalisms are present, giving visibility the binary conceptions on gender and sexuality that classify the citizens from fixed sexual identities. The conclusion was that the preconceptions remain in the investigated group, in spite of the few statements that balance their positions.
