FORTES, Leonardo de Sousa; FERREIRA, Maria Elisa Caputo; LAUS, Maria Fernanda  and  ALMEIDA, Sebastião Sousa. Body dissatisfaction and eating habits: comparison between young athletes from different sports. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2014, vol.20, n.1, pp.138-154. ISSN 1677-1168.  https://doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9523.2014v20n1p138.

The aim of this study was to compare the feeding habits and body dissatisfaction among adolescent athletes inadequate in many sports and different competitive levels. 580 athletes participated from the both sexes. To evaluate the food we administered the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26). We used the Body Shape Questionnaire to measure body dissatisfaction. We applied a questionnaire to assess age, sex, type of sport, competitive level and hours of training / day. We applied the Kolmogorov Smirnov test, Shapiro Wilk, Student t, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal Wallis. We carried out data processing in SPSS 17.0 with a significance level of 5%. Male athletes in team sports and ball weight class had higher risks for psychological syndromes, for basketball and judo athletes were more dissatisfied with their body, while basketball and football proved most inadequate food. These findings were not confirmed in girls.
