Abstract

ALVES, Pâmela Nische; GUARESCHI, Neuza Maria de Fátima  and  HADLER, Oriana Holsbach. Witness protection programs in brazil: the fabrication of testimonies as pleadings. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2021, vol.27, n.1, pp.93-111. ISSN 1677-1168.  https://doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9563.2021v27n1p93-111.

The objects of this study are the State Victim Witness Assistance Program in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and its relation to the importance of testimony to bring forth legal evidence. The conditions for the emergence of the public policy as devised are questioned on the basis of a Foucauldian framework. The State rationalities which have produced effects on the handling of the lives that the program is intended to protect are also pondered over. The movie "Quanto vale ou é por quilo?" [How much or it’s per kilo?] has been used as a trigger in this discussion, adressed as the materiality that questions the market logic introduced by the so-called Third Sector. Examining the ways of implementation of public policies, the importance of disrupting the mercantilist logic in this process has also been put into question, particularly that which concerns witness protection programs, as a Psychology political-ethical role.
