Abstract

GIBRAN, Renata Cristina Ribeiro  and  PERES, Rodrigo Sanches. Grief: technical management issues in psychoanalytic clinic. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.2, pp.73-85. ISSN 1677-2970.

The study aims to discuss technical management issues of individual psychoanalytic clinic involving grieving adults. From a narrative review developed by searches in SciELO, PePSIC, and LILACS databases, it was verified that both classical psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy are indicated as potentially beneficial in cases of grief. Although transferential and countertransferential processes can display particular characteristics, a distinguished technical management is not recommended, thus preserving tactical objectives of each practice in psychoanalytic clinic. Further studies are suggested, whether empirical, theoretical or clinical, in order to expand current specialised literature.

Keywords : grief; psychoanalytic clinic; psychoanalysis; psychoanalytic psychotherapy; psychotherapeutic processes.
