The emptiness of man from postmodernity: a reflection of the influeces in an expression of addictes behaviors in patients bearers of morbid obesity. This study was reflect upon “the emptiness of postmodernity”to establish a relationship between the characteristics of postmodernity society and the influences in an expression of the addicted behaviors of a contemporary and morbid obese man. Fifty patients, about to undergo bariatric surgery have participed. They were from public and private institutions in Brazil. A questionnaire was used the psychological study of morbid obesity patients about to undergo bariatric surgery. The sample was predominantly female aged to 20 to 50. The results refer to 52% identify the collaborator agents - mothers (38,5%) and husbands (30,8%) and 67% are still affected by these influences; their obesity not having stopped because the lack of willpower (20,4%), depression (18,4%) and anxiety (14,3%); they not be able to control themselves in reference in general expenses and consumption (66,7%). Demonstrated the probability that social and cultural factors and consequent emptiness of the postmodern man are directly related to the development and intensification of the addicted behaviors.
