Abstract

FIOR, Camila Alves  and  MERCURI, Elizabeth. Academic involvement in higher education and students' characteristics. Rev. bras. orientac. prof [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.1, pp.85-95. ISSN 1984-7270.  https://doi.org/1026707/1984-7270/2019v19n1p85.

Academic involvement is a predictor of learning, development and permanence of higher-education students and is influenced by several variables. This study aims to analyze the differences in academic involvement, considering students' personal variables. The data, collected using the Academic Involvement Scale with 1000 college students enrolled in a confessional institution, was analyzed using multivariate statistics. It is important to point out the existence of statistically significant differences between the academic involvement with mandatory and non-mandatory activities considering the students' personal variables. The results reinforce the dynamic aspect of involvement, and the importance of knowing its characteristics for institutional planning.
