A review of literature involving Systemic Family Therapy and the work with couples and the structures that characterize a long-term marriage were carried out. Considering that a healthy and stable relationship is marked by the presence of a conjugal identity permeated by affective exchanges and fidelities. The purpose of this review is to raise the level of interest of the Brazilian and Latin American researchers on the theme longevity couple, as well as to verify how the topic is discussed in the family systemic perspective. It is a contribution of systemic therapy to studies of the contemporary family, specifically, the conjugal subsystem and the interactions in long-term marriages. Among the few publications found there is a tendency to start from marital conflict in order to have access to long-lived couples. Love and respect for the individuality of the partner were decisive in maintaining long-term conjugality.
