Abstract

TROMBETTA, Paula  and  HINTZ, Helena Centeno. Trapped in captivity or dancing to someone’s tune?: Reflections on the sexuality of the contemporary couple. Pensando fam. [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.2, pp.176-192. ISSN 1679-494X.

Today's society shows a profile focused on individualism, bringing a new impact on the relational construct of the contemporary couple. Today’s intimacy is seen as primordial to start a relationship, but this same intimacy ends up having repercussions on the partners' erotic desire, given the need to maintain individuality. In order to understand the effect of intimacy on the sexuality of the modern couple, this article sought to compare two different theoretical aspects of couples' sexual difficulties by authors who are references in the area of couples therapy today. Therefore, the study presented the report of two clinical cases with differences in their functioning, but with the same demand for sexual infrequency.

Keywords : Contemporary couple; Sexuality; Emotion-focused therapy; Attachment theory.
