Abstract

SIQUEIRA, Érica de Sá Earp. The depression and the desire in psychoanalysis. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.7, n.1. ISSN 1808-4281.

The present work discourses about “The depression and the desire in psychoanalysis” and the first inquiry has to do with a possible link between desire and depression. From a clinic case, the importance of the diagnosis in an analysis arises. From there on, the works of the father of Psychoanalysis are used - Freud - and of his followers - Lacan, Melanie Klein and some other psychoanalytic authors who wrote about depression. Would the depression be a phenomena or a clinic structure? And what can psychoanalysis, or better, the speech of the analyst do with the subject who says he is “depressed” in our clinic nowadays? So, it seems that the depression has a certain link with today&#';s culture, that shows itself maniac and omnipotent, trying to exclude the ill-being and the ‘existing pain&#'; that are inherent to the subject.

Keywords : Depression; Mourning; Melancholy; Desire; Psychoanalysis.
