Abstract

VILHENA, Junia de  and  BITTENCOURT, Maria Inês G. de Freitas. Fractured spine: notes about the violence in the film Tsotsi - a stolen childhood. Estud. pesqui. psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.8, n.3. ISSN 1808-4281.

The South African film "Tsotsi", directed by Gavin Hood (2005) and exhibited in Brazil under the title "Stolen Childhood",  is taken as an example for a reflection on the processes of construction of subjectivities  marked by  aggressiveness, derived by the abandonment and by the annihilation threat experienced by children living in unfavorable environmental conditions. The destruction of the capacity of symbolization, as a result of precocious traumas, is an outstanding  factor  and of special importance in the genesis of such children's development,  in which antisocial conducts can contain a cry for help.

Keywords : Environment; Symbolization; Aggressiveness.
